Picture one of our greatest living singer-songwriters in a kitchen. He is on holidays, he’s just had a swim. His wife is out on the beach, and he finds himself faced with a bowl of irresistible strawberries. They’re meant to be shared, of course, but their taste is out of the ordinary, so he just can’t help himself. Minutes later all of the delicious fruit are gone, but there’s the germ of a song as the phrase Someone ate all the strawberries has just popped into Robert Forster’s mind, sounding so weird, but normal. Thankfully, he has taken his guitar with him.
Welcome to the starting point for Robert Forsters 9th solo recording a beautiful odyssey recorded over four weeks at Ingrid Studios, Stockholm over September and October 2024 with Peter Moren (of Peter Bjorn and John) at the production helm. In Roberts words: I walked in and out with an album, none of it possible without the extraordinary support and musical magic I got from everyone involved. When you do something like this – the four week album recorded from scratch, having flown from one side of the world to the other, trust and talent is what you need and what I got. I was lucky. I received the gift. Now you know the story. I hope you hear it in the grooves.
