Previously unreleased Richter recordings!
Anyone who thinks that there is no longer anything to say on the subject of Sviatoslav Richters discography is wrong. Previously unreleased recordings of four Beethoven sonatas have come to light and have been newly restored for release this May. The physical releases include extensive liners by Markus Kettner, Jed Distler, and a new interview with Richters confidante, the pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja.
At the height of his pianistic ability, Richter plays the Beethoven sonatas 18, 27, 28 and 31 at the Festival in Tours and at the Lucerne Festival in June and September 1965. Recorded by DG Tonmeister (recording producer) Heinz Wildhagen, and newly restored by the renowned Emil Berliner Studios in Berlin, pitch fluctuations and interference have been carefully removed.
