For more than 20 years, the Classic 100 has been one of the most anticipated events on the Australian classical music calendar: a chance for music-lovers across the country to nominate the music that means the most to them. This year’s theme is instruments, and the field is wide open: from the piano through all the instruments of the orchestra to the traditional instruments of cultures around the globe and the new instruments of the electronic age – and not forgetting of course the human voice, the most personal instrument of them all! The top 100 will be announced on an on-air countdown over the June long weekend, and the boxed set will follow in July, featuring all 100 of Australia’s favourite instruments.
