On 15th October 1984, The Pogues released their debut album ‘Red Roses For Me’. To celebrate the 40th anniversary, we’ll be releasing a 2CD set with a version of the 2013 remix plus a bonus disc of B-sides and BBC sessions from 1984, and a special 1LP on recycled red vinyl.

After four decades, Red Roses For Me is still celebrated as a groundbreaking debut album from an unlikely group of supposed neer-do-wells from Londons Kings Cross in the convulsive aftermath of the re-election of the Thatcher government. The album mashes traditional songs and instrumentals – about death and drink, love and London – with those of frontman Shane MacGowan’s – and all fuelled by the punk ethos.
