Mavis Staples self-titled debut solo album is released to celebrate the 55th anniversary of its original released in 1969. Part of the legendary Staple Singers, along with her father Roebuck Pops Staples and her siblings Cleotha, Pervis and Yvonne, this first solo outing was released on Stax Records subsidiary Volt and produced by Staxs Al Bell and Steve Cropper. Included are the single Youre Driving Me (To the Arms of a Stranger) along with powerful versions of Son of A Preacher Man and A House Is Not A Home. The musicians who play on the album is a whos who of soul including, Isaac Hayes (organ), Steve Cropper (guitar), Donald Duck Dunn (bass), and Al Jackson Jr. (drums).
