Buscabulla, the acclaimed Puerto Rican indie duo, has finally released their long-awaited second studio album, Se Amaba As.

The album features the first single, “El Camino.” “El Camino” serves as the incendiary opening track on Se Amaba As, a raw and penetrating song cycle that delves into the struggles and challenges of relationships in the modern world.

According to Raquel Berrios of Buscabulla, “El Camino” is a dramatic disco guitar track about coming to a crossroads in a relationship and getting lost traveling through the uncharted, dark territories of life.

The duo aimed to achieve a cinematic sound to open up the movie that is their new record. They turned inward to explore the struggles of not only their own romantic relationship but romantic relationships in general.

Se Amaba As is a cathartic, self-reflective journey of songs influenced by Latin and tropical genres of the past but seen through a contemporary lens.

Loosely translating to “The Way They Loved,” Se Amaba As sees Buscabulla co-founders Raquel Berrios and Luis Del Valle devoting their eagerly awaited second album to ruthlessly examining their private life as a couple.

The album utilizes myriad strains of Latin music to explore their most intimate struggles as both artists and lovers. From the neo-doowop of “Mi Marido” to the distorted guitars of “Mortal,” the album pushes the duos shared sonic world through dark synthesizers, witchy vocal loops, and the sharp snap of live percussion.

The result is a singularly universal record about the difficulties inherent in keeping a relationship alive in the present moment.
