Formed in 2000 with the aim of reviving the hardcore sound of 80’s Japanese punk, Kokeshidoll delivered with their debut album ‘Kokeshism’ in 2003. Band leader Yumiko Hizumesawa (Guitar), Kyoki Mixer (Bass), Kimiyasu Akiyama (Drums – later of FORWARD) and vocalist Inundow released 2 albums (being joined by guitarist Kubo Nisesatsuhan for 2004’s major label release ‘Go Go Kokeshidoll’.) Known for their riotous drunken stage antics, frequently in states of undress and semi-incapacitated, Kokeshidoll split in 2004 shortly after a notorious performance with legends Hijokaidan which involved Kyoki vomiting on stage and Inundow throwing pig heads into the crowd.
