Further to their pair of albums for NNA Tapes, Leya – violinist and vocalist Adam Markiewicz and harpist Marilu Donovan – present a mixtape started while on tour and recorded mostly at home. “Eyeline” continues their knack for collaboration with a stack of friends on board who dovetail their sound, a sort of etheric rendering of ambient-pop with avant-classical inspirations. Artist of the moment claire rousay chimes in on two numbers, lending field recordings and low mixed vox to the pitch bent lilt of “DOG” and the rustic vignette “Dankworld Interlude”, with Julie Byrne lending a gothic pallor to “Glass Jaw”, and Sunk Heaven aiding in the bittersweet melodrama of “To Steal The Shape”, but were best seduced by the Actress remix, taking 9 minutes to reframe “Dankworld” in Burial-esque nocturnal ambience that precipitates a sort of quasi-speed, slumped UKG groove.
